Both the house and the flat overlook the beautiful, planted garden, which is equipped with an irrigation system. The architectural complex ”Il Castellazzo” in Pombia has a well-preserved original structure dating back to 1347, located in a dominant position in the centre of Pombia. From the south side you can see one of the features of the complex, namely the retaining wall with its characteristic barbicans of pebbles mixed with bricks.There is no certainty about the original destination of the complex, but there are three hypotheses: The first, related to the imposing character of the complex, tells of a noble palace, the residence of the ”Dominus”.The second hypothesis is that the complex was used as a farm in favour of the Adesl Borromeo family; a large stone chute can be seen in one of the cellars used for storage, through which the agricultural produce was brought to the cellars. A third hypothesis, again due to the dominant position, refers to a fortress overlooking the Rio Riale valley, in the toponymy ”vallis buschaliorum”, built for the defence of the settlement. Near the property there are 2 golf courses (Agrate Conturbia and Bogogno), Malpensa airport is 20 minutes away and Lake Maggiore 20 minutes.
