Monforte é uma localidade portuguesa situada a 27 quilómetros da cidade de Portalegre pela N 18, que pertence à região do Alto Alentejo, Portugal.
O seu coração é a Praça da República, adornada por laranjeiras e um chafariz, e enquadrada pela Câmara Municipal, vários palácios barrocos, a Igreja da Ordem Terceira (século XVIII) e a Igreja Matriz com a Capela dos Ossos (século XVIII), toda forrada de caveiras e ossos humanos.
Extramuros vale a pena visitar a Casa do Prior (século XVIII) e a Igreja de Santa Maria Madalena (século XV), que funciona como Núcleo Museológico Municipal.
Na saída para Viamonte encontrarás várias edificações dispersas, tais como a Capilha do Senhor da Boa Morte (século XIX), o Templo de São João Baptista (século XVIII), a igreja da Conceição (séculos XVII a XVIII) e a Igreja do Calvário (século XVIII), de planta de cruz grega com uma esbelta cúpula.
A 5 quilómetros a Oeste, onde se conserva uma ponte romana, está a Vila Lusitano-Romana de Torre de Palma.

Monforte is a Portuguese town located 27 kilometers from the city of Portalegre on the N 18, which belongs to the Alto Alentejo region, Portugal.
Its heart is Praça da República, adorned with orange trees and a fountain, and framed by the Town Hall, several baroque palaces, the Igreja da Ordem Terceira (18th century) and the Igreja Matriz with the Chapel of Bones (18th century), all lined with skulls and human bones.
Outside the walls, it is worth visiting the Casa do Prior (18th century) and the Church of Santa Maria Madalena (15th century), which serves as the Municipal Museum Nucleus.
On the way out to Viamonte you will find several scattered buildings, such as the chapel of Senhor da Boa Morte (19th century), the Temple of São João Baptista (18th century), the church of Conceição (17th to 18th centuries) and the Church of Calvário ( 18th century), with a Greek cross plan and a slender dome.
