A white and noble city, Estremoz can be divided into two nuclei that mark its evolution: the medieval houses next to the castle and, outside the walls, the modern town.

Estremoz has a rich cultural heritage, including the castle with its medieval walls and the old citadel (13th century) where the Pousada Rainha Santa Isabel is currently located, which is part of the Pousadas de Portugal network.

Equally famous are the region's red clay, which gave rise to the traditional dolls that are so easy to find in the city's craft stores.
