Italian financial and economic publication Il Sole 24 Ore annually releases a report on the cities with the highest quality of life in the country. Experts from Locare used this report as a basis for a study on rental housing costs in these cities, analyzing the average rental prices for 3-bedroom apartments of 90 m² across various parts of Italy.

Study Results:

  • Bergamo tops the ranking of the most comfortable provinces for living. Renting a 3-bedroom apartment costs €1,073 per month, with an average annual cost of €143 per square meter.
  • Trieste ranks second, with apartments priced at an average of €1,065 per month (€142/m² annually).
  • Bolzano takes third place, known for its high prices: €1,290 per month or €172/m² annually.
  • Monza, considered more attractive for living compared to Milan, offers 3-bedroom apartments for €1,155 per month (€154/m² annually).
  • Cremona has apartments available for €765 per month, with an average annual cost of €102/m².
  • Udine is in sixth place, where rent costs €818 per month (€109/m² annually).
  • Verona sees average rental costs of €1,065 per month, with €142/m² annually.
  • Vicenza offers more affordable rents at €983 per month or €131/m² annually.
  • Bologna, despite dropping six positions in the ranking, remains the only regional capital in the top ten. The average rent for a 3-bedroom apartment is €1,410 per month, with an annual cost of €188/m².
  • Ascoli Piceno rounds out the list, offering the most affordable rent at €660 per month, with an annual rate of €88/m².

The average annual rental cost per square meter in Italy is €162, equivalent to €1,215 per month for a 90 m² 3-bedroom apartment.
